hire a local traffic lawyer

His fee won't be more than a few hundred, he'll tell you what's the best course with that local court.  Nobody else can tell you what's happening in that local court room.

He'll probably just negotiate with state attorney to get a better deal, such as pay the fee but no points. 

It's very rare you can get off scot free.   I understand the ticket is BS.  Sorry.
