Not quite sure why you need to go to Chinese Embassy to get a Canadian passport.

Anyway, next time, if you need to apply for a visa to China, pay a travel agent $30 to get it in NYC.

If you need to renew your Canadian passport, take a few days vacation in Canada to get it. If you have to do it through mails, do it at least 3 months in advance of your traveling date.
