car change ownership after husband's sudden death

Hi everyone,
A girl friend's hu*****and suddenly died without any previous symptoms. Very sad. Their two cars are all under his name. Her name is not even on the registration, since she barely drives. What should she do to change the car's ownership to her? What does DMV need? She lives in California.
