The United States is one of the most wasteful countries

The United States and China use about the same amount of energy, and the United States only has a quarter of China's population. The United States has one of the highest per capita energy consumptions in the world, exceeded only by a handful of micronations, many of which are oil-producers. Ironically, Bangladesh, which has the lowest per capita energy consumption of any country, would be one of the first to disappear if the ice caps were to melt and raise the sea level, since it is a very low-lying country dominated by the Ganges River delta.
