Horrible temper. Is that normal for a 14 months old?

My daughter was a "Guai Bao Bao" before 6mon old, but now she always burst out a terrible temper when she can't get want she wants. She shouts & cry like it is the end of the world. I tried to discplay her by timing her out, but she either knock her head against the wall or just fall down on the floor backwards straightly which is very dangerous since her back head will hit the floor straightly. I am out of ideas. I don't know what to do. Don't know whether it is normal for baby's in this growth stage or it is just a phase or not. I certainly don't want her to be a "Xiao Tai Mei" later. Meanwhile, I am worried whether there's more serious problem into it. JJMM, do you think should I consult this with her doctor? Or this is normal for babies?
