I use a small flat frying pan to heat baby food

Just add a little water at bottom and put lid on, turn high heat to low heat when boils.
It steams and softens food pretty well. Costs more on energy bill.
Of course sometimes to save time I use microwave, but never in plastic plates.
Pick out a microwave safe china from a cupboard isn't that hard.
Sometimes I break an egg in the pan, it adds steam to the other food.
Sprinkle some feta cheese on top, put slices of bananas on the sides.
It's a hodge podge mess but she loves it.
