If I donate through the American red cross, it is like the American's helping the Chinese. If I donate directly to Chinese red cross, it brings out certain sense of pride that we Chinese can do a lot more now -- I don't know what happened after TangShan earthquake, but I feel the Chinese are doing a much better job now than we could have done years ago.
That is, albeit all the headaches to fight through the poor webpage of the Chinese red cross if one is lucky enough…
But I agree with you regarding the operation cost of all the red cross, and the greedy relatives or whoever gets a hand on the donations.
