What are the best first lines in fiction?
今天读到的这篇“the first lines in fiction”, 好感动。
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" --A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." -- Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen
"All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." -- Anna Karenina, by Leo Tolstoy
"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again" -- Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier
"There was no possibility of taking a walk that day" -- Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte
P.S.
