It is probably not a good idea to take care of him

Think about it: when he recovers, and when you want him to help you with anything, you will get even more upset after what you have done for him.  Then he is going to whine about your bad mood...

If you don't do much for him now, it is easier for you to withdraw later, mentally, emotionally...
