坑：Do you think it's OK to share with your friends how much money

Although that's a taboo in the U.S., I actually think it's OK, even good to share. Salary is a big factor in anyone's decision making process to take a job or to switch careers, but detailed information is so hard to come by. (You can go to salary.com but their information is so general, it's hard to estimate for your specific case.)

For example, one of my friends thought that programmers make around $50K (based on salary.com), but she has a Ph.D.and she can make much more than that (technically, she would be a research engineer but that's similar). After she found out from a friend, she is seriously considering a programming career and to her the salary of her friend is very valuable information.
