The ideas here are from different people based on different personal conditions and environment.
A pretty or successful lady would be forget it, I will find someone better.
An average looking girl without a job would be I am dating a vp I couldn't do better I will put up with it.
It doesn't mean that he doesn't care about you. He is just selfish like tons of other guys. At his age there is no passionate love so he could always think things through and work to his advantage.
If he makes lot more than you let him pay for everything. Don't voluntarily pay for anything. If he is working towards his own advantage you have to take some advantage too. If there is no marriage bind you two together and for whatever reason you guys break up you get nothing. If there is marriage you can demand half of his condo and ask for spousal support.
Lastly it shouldn't be very hard for you to find a guy as you have older kid. Your kid doesn't take too much of your time and you can date. So you have to be firm on a marriage.
