I wouldn't spend that money on necklaces. I'd rather ask for a handbag. I like swarvski necklaces, a couple of hundred is enough sometimes less and they are more fashionable. My bf bought me a yellow gold necklace with yellow gem on it for my b day which he claims that it is my birth stone (nov). It is so ugly and he said he couldn't return it. Not sure how much was it but I'd rather get something else.

Train him to be more generous, the more he spent on you the more he felt like he invested the more he would cherish you. Keep workin on it. My bf was trained from buying me a couple of stupid books that I am never going to read for my b day or Xmas to some really decent stuff. Even his mum and brother buy me decent gifts. Just don't shop cheap things in front of him. Dress really well. Tell him everything you shopped for are expensive. Let them realize that if it is a gift for you it has to be decent.
