this is a presidential election, not a political party election

For example, it is not possible for me to line up with any political party, but I have to "elect" it. 

By the way, I have voting rights, but it is almost like nothing. CA always votes for dem, because of unions.

Is election the form of democracy?

For example, promising tax cuts for yoru vote looks like buying your vote.

(same as promising no tax cuts)
