1. life insurance, some use it as a tool to supplyment estate tax.

2. I am a big fan of longterm care insurance.  few examples.

case 1, my friend, a foot doctor, father in nuring home, 5 years, no insurance, self-pay.

case 2, my aunt, nuring home, 8 years, long term care pay for nursing home stay.

case 3, my old tutor and long time friend, brain tumor, die 12 month later, pay in 11 years for long term care, never got to use it.

average nursing home policy at age 65, is about 140/month per person.
