As long as he/she returns to US before his/her stay in China reaches one year, it will be fine. If he/she cannot retun to US before his/her stay in China for one year because of the coronavirus disease, then he/she has to apply for the SB-1 visa to come back, which will a longer time and spend more than $1000.
