F-2 visa

Dear Friends, i have a question to ask for your kind help. My hu*****and is applying for a F2 visa in Beijing. we got married in April this year. The problem is that his mom became a permanent resident of the States last year. Will this be a problem to him to get the visa? Or if he says he has no relatives except for me in the States, will the visa office finds this out? thanks a million times for your help.
