Hope your father is getting better. Ask the doctor who is in charge of your father to write a certificate of disease, (in English), fax the certificate of disease to the airline company, also call them to negotiate. Hope you best luck.
I once reschedule the airticket due to a illness of family member, and the proof from doctor worked and we got airticket rescheduled. It happened in U.S.
