help: overlay on h1 transfer

I just transferred to a new job on 12/1. The last day of my old job is 11/28. The problem is, new h1 was approved on 11/17, current HR people put my first day on 11/17, not 12/1. Do I need to change new starting date or old ending date? Is there any bad effect on this overlay? Thank you very much.
