can I change back to F2 from H

I arrived US with F2 status and changed to H1. Right now my I140/I485 (NIW)are still pending and also I filled EAD and AP with my I485. The thing is I want to quit my job,change back to F2. My lawer said that it is impossible as F is a no-immigrate visa but I filed the application for green card, so it will get denied on my case.So my question is : is it possible for me to change back to F2? and if I do that my green card application is invalid?
