AP, Passport, H1 and I94

I am H1 holder (valid to 2005), my passport will expire next July (7/2004), I will go back to China next month (1/2004) for Spring Festival and enter USA using Advance Parole (485 pending) about 2/2004. I wonder if I need to renew my passport before I go home or after I come back, do you think it will cause any problem if I come back using AP with a passport which will expire in six month. Thanks everyone, please answer.
