Question - Canada immigration

Hi, there:

I am currently working in USA, but plan to migrate to Canada.
If I get approval from Canada immigration department to land in Canada to get the permenant resident card, how long will this approval be valid before my landing - I might not be able to leave my job as soon as I get the approval?
