B2_Invitation Letter

Anyone has expereinces about B2 visa invitation letter, please come in.

(1) Should thie letter write to the visa consular or to my parents?

(2) How long will it be valid after getting the visa during that time you can land on USA from China? Such as, I can land on any time in six month as F-1 in 1999.
