Sorry, I cannot find any links for you. But the regulations explains that you cannot work for payment, but it doesn't say you cannot work as a volunteer (without payment). One of my friends works as a volunteer for almost one year and she said no problem for that, a lawyer told her so. Maybe you can ask a lawyer for further information.
