friend J1 waived, filed

I-485 after 140 approved without sponsoring the J2 dependent since the wife wants to devoice to marry a citizen. Does the wife (J-2) have legal staying when the J-1 expires? Friend will change to H1. Is he responsible to apply a H4 for her? If the hu*****and said no to the devoice and I-485 sponsoship, what will happen to the wife? Thanks!
