I485 and F1 question

My wife hold F-1 now. My I-140 has been approved, and our I-485s are still pending. My wife’s F1 will expire this May, but she can’t finish her studying until this August. My question is whether it will hurt our I-485s if she extend my F1. Is it OK for her to apply for OPT in the future?
