AP approved BF I-485 receipt

We filed I-485 for my wife at the end of January. We never got a receipt from USCIS, nor did our attorney. However, my wife got a notice that her AP has been approved. This is quite weired. Normally, applicants get receipt first then AP and EAD. Does anyone have such experience before. Thanks.
