About 20,000 H1,waiting online

Hi everyone,
I am working with OPT now. I applied for one of the 20,000 H1b on March 8. but those H1b have not started until today. Nobody knows when it will begin. Should I ask my lawyer to transfer my application to the H1 starting on April 1? My OPT will expire in August. If I get the April 1 H1, I will have to use the 60 day grace period and cannot work for about 2 months until Oct 1. I don't have to do this if I get the 20,000. But if I wait for the 20,000, who knows when it will start. I'm desperate now. I believe many people have the same concern. Do please help me. Today is the last day before April 1 and I have to make decision. I will be waiting on line. Thanks a lot!!!!!!
