My friend's situation is the same as yours. She moved to MA from other state (NSC) and got her approval from NSC. She then went to the INS local office in Boston and got her passport stamped, instead of going back to her former state. So, you can try it too.

If the center approved your I485, then you don't need an interview at local office. But you do need to do the passport stamping because they have to get your finger print (right index finger only) and your signature for the purpose of making your green card.
