Just tell the truth. My in-laws got their visa Shanghai and we stated in the letter that they are here to help us out for a few months for the baby we are expecting and do a bit sight-seeing.

The other factor is your status. Are you on F, H visa or PR? It might be more diffult for F-visa holders.
