As a professional, H1-B holder, should not pay laywer fee to extend his/her H1-B, because we already have been here for several years and familar with all the procedures for applying for immi stuff. you can use google or sth else to get the answer, and it is pretty simple.
Actually , H1-B extension is almost/just same as fresh H1-B application.
here is the checking list:
1) LCA(online apply, get immediately,very easy)
2) I-129 Form
3) Job description( duty & salary, signed by employer, use the paper with company's title )
4) Company Corporate Chart(DIY if not have)
5) Fee
6) Passport
7) I-94( front & back)
8) I-797( copy if for extension)
9) Company’s description( ignore if don't have)
10) your highest degree diploma
11) recent Pay stubs/checks
just cost one or two days to prepare, send out, that's it. Save$$$$
