your 485 case yet, which legal document is the 485 receipt notice from INS. Just image you send your 485 to somewhere, can you claim you have a 458 case with INS. INS calls illegal aliens as undocumented aliens because they do not have their records. So before your 485 application is documented by INS (it is a receipt notice for your side), you should have something else say H1 to support your status.
