Question about filing I-485

I-140 approved. Now filing I-485.

One supporting document my lawyer's list asked for, "if applicable", is Form I-120 and a letter from the University confirming maintaining status if applicant were ever in F-1 visa.

I entered USA as F-1. Does this apply to my case ? By the way what is Form I-120 ? I only had I-20 as F-1. Do I need to ask my former university to write such a letter ? Thanks in advance.
