请教8老师，我外甥以B2身份在美探亲。他准备在这里申请本科大学，先以English Program拿I-20, 然后再申请正式专业。他想在美国转F1。请问：

1. 语言I-20比正式专业在美国B2转F1更难吗？

-Not really.

在中国签F1比在美国转更有拒签风险吗？

-Not really, depends on how you justify it.

2. 如果他的B2转F1被拒，他能拿美国B2签证去墨西哥或加拿大吗? 然后重新进入美国时，再试签F1吗？

-He needs to keep his B2 status valid before he goes to Canada or Mexico to apply for the F-1 visa in the US Consulate in Canada or Mexico. Because it takes longer time for the process on change of status from B2 to F1, probably he may be out of status when his change of status is denied though he can stay in US legally during the change of status is pending.
