请教8老师：我父在国内，绿卡四年前就expired，现在如果想过来，是否可以直接申请探亲签证呢？绿卡过期了还需要先填407表申请放弃绿卡的吗？如果必须先放弃绿卡 ，那这个申请一般要多久才能批准？

-They need to abandon the green card first, then apply for B2 visa to visit you after the I-407 is approved. Although technically your parents' green card are void, the immigration system still record their permanent resident status (green card holder). Thus, they need to give up the green card to become a nonimmigrant in the system. It takes about 60 days for I-407 process.
