昨天和朋友聚餐，期间朋友聊到他目前的绿卡是2年的有条件绿卡，Category是I-51,这周去打指纹（去掉那个条件，换10年绿卡）

 

问题来了，他说他以后的绿卡Category种类会变成EB-5，而不是I-51,我当时就蒙圈了，怎么临时绿卡转长期绿卡，Category也会变吗？

-I-551 is another name of permanent resident card (green card), not green card category. His current conditional green card category should be either one of these code: CR1 or CR6 (spouse of US citzien); or C26 (spouse of green card holder).

After he gets the permanent green card, his green card category will be changed to: IR1 or IR6 (spouse of US citizen); FX1 or FX6 (spouse of green card holder).

 

另外他提到绿卡时间也变化了，他目前临时绿卡是2年的，新绿卡会是小于10年的，我怎么记得永久绿卡时间都应该是10年的啊，难道是我记错了。
