请教8老师：申请到绿卡后，在国外读大学，怎么维系绿卡身份？

帮一个朋友打听个情况： 他有一个男孩，生长在加拿大，一直跟妈妈住，现在在加拿大读大一。如果他爸爸申请他美国绿卡，在读大学期间，他怎么维系美国绿卡身份？

 

Re-entry permit 是不是唯一的出路？

-Yes. He can apply for reentry permit to stay in Canada for > one year < two years, then come back to US to renew it before it expires. He can leave US after he conducts the biometrics for reentry permit application , not need to wait for the reentry permit approval.
