我父亲突然过世， 我想帮妈妈移民来我这，可以照顾她， 不知道是她在国内我们开始申请好，还是妈先来美国再转身份好？ 

-If possible, she may come to US and then, apply for the green card.

 我们需要请律师帮忙吗？ 还是自己可以搞定？

-It is simple process and you may just do it by yourself. Just follow the I-130 and I-485 instructions to do it. You also can Google to find some related information using key words: 父母移民.
