请教8老师一个申请公民或renew绿卡的问题！谢谢！

绿卡明年中过期。请问renew绿卡和申请公民可以同时办吗？USCIS网站上说如果renew绿卡，只能在绿卡过期前六个月才可以申请，请问我的理解对吗？谢谢！
