谢谢8老师的及时回复！我刚才也在查询如何办理，看到有city-based, state-based和nation-based 在FBI办理的三种不同的未犯罪记录证明。您说的在当地的police dept. 是市的还是州的？可是我看到很多人说办理绿卡需要在FBI办理的那种nation-based的未犯罪记录证明。请您帮我再次确认一下是哪种。多谢了！

-Depends. If you only lived in one location (e.g. within one city) in US for more than 6 months, you only need to get it from the local police department; if you if you live several cities and each city was for more than 6 months in the same state, then you need to get the state-based one; if you lived in several states, then you need to to the national based one.
