-You can work for the new employer after the H-1 transfer filing. But the problem is that if you did not work for industrial company before, you need to get the H-1 quote which is very difficult to get.
By the way, you don't have the H-1 grace period of 60 days after your current H-1 I-94 expires, and it is only 10 days.
The grace period of 60 days means that if you are laid off but the H-1 I-94 will not expire in 60 days, then you can legally stay in US to find a new job for 60 days.
