-You can apply for J-1 waiver any time after you have J-1 status for one year. If you want to extend your J-1, you have to extend it before you apply for J-1 waiver because if you get J-1 waiver, then you can not extend it again.
3. 假如我现在申请I-140，J1豁免后， I-140批准前，我用什么签证维持身份？
-J-1 waiver can not affect your J-1 status, but you cannot extend it after you current J-1 expires.
4. I-140批准后，J1豁免后，假如我不想办H1，我用什么签证维持身份？
-Had better change J-1 to H-1.
