8老师，

我2010年拿到绿卡，但现在因为在国内大学拿到正式教授职位，已于2016年初全职回国工作，并准备长期留在中国，所以我考虑放弃绿卡（已拿了6年），但是太太和孩子留在美国（都已入国籍）。

1. 不知现在放弃绿卡对我会有什么后果、影响（已拿到绿卡6年，不到8年）？

-No any. You can apply for the green card again in the future under your spouse's sponsor.

2. 算不算Covered Expatriate（适用弃卡者）？

-It probably yes if your income meet the requirements. See:

You had better abandon your green card by filing I-407 to any one of the US Consulates in China, and then apply for B-1 or B-2 visa to travel to US in the future.
