Under circumstances like this (lost job), what is the best option?
Apply for another visa?
-It is better to change status.
Or don't do anything with any visa; instead, just apply for jobs and wait for job offer?
If B is denied and I am out of status, will the time (between now and next job offer) be taken into account into the length for H visa?
-Normally your H-1 clock still run until your B-2 is approved, but you may keep your layoff letter/proof and the B-2 denial notice to justify it in the future. Talk to your lawyer at that time when filing H-1 petition for the new job to see whether you can recapture the H-1 time for that period of time.
