When parents were green card holders, parents filed I-130 for unmarried adult child.
I-130 was approved and gave a priority date.
After that, adult child was married and divorced after parents became citizens.
In such case, can adult child use the previous priority date for green card?
-Yes because the parent/sponsor became a US citizen before the child got married. But the I-130 category is not F2B due to the child marriage. So, the sponsor (parent) needs to write a letter to ask USCIS to upgrade the I-130 from F2B to F1 (unmarried adult child of US citizen) because the parent became a US citizen (not need to file a new I-130). Of course, the I-130 priority date remains the same.
