-Depends. If your I-140 is NIW/EB-1, then you can file I-485. Of course, you had better find job and enter US using H-1B visa in this case. But if the I-140 was sponsored by an employer, then you can not use it to file I-485 unless the I-140 sponsor support you to file I-485 (i.e. will hire you back).
