-When did they leave US, before or after the AP was approved? If they left US before the AP approval, they can not use this AP to return to US and their I-485 probably will be denied. If they left after AP approval, you can mail both 2 copies of AP to them and they need to show both 2 copies of AP to the IO at the port of entry. Then, the IO will take one copy away, and stamp another copy for them for future travel.
