485 pending, change job within the same company

Hi there, thanks ahead for helping.

Here is my situation: 485 pending for more than 180 days, H1B just about to finish the 6th year. There is a higher level position within the same company and same group where I'm currently working. Job description similar to my original Labor Certificate but at a higher level, basically like a promotion of my current position. I would like to apply. If I get the position, will it affect my greencard application in any way ? should I notify USCIS ? Also do I need a H1B transfer at all ?
