Thank you 86 master, do you have any kind of reliable link or reference to show that I am OK for J1 waiver?

My university IO said I may be denied since I am funded by the US government NIH. I am a little bit worried. If I am denied by the J1 waiver, what will be the disadvantages? Can I appeal it?
