In-law 2009年9月回国。走之前申请了回美证。因身体不好，一直在国内看病（中医调理），回美证就这样失效了。 现准备下个月来美。 正确的做法是什么？如果自己买机票来美（反正国航是不管的）， 进关会有什么样的问题？绿卡倒没有过期。

-Because he/she does not retun to US before the RP expired, the green card is invalid and thus, probably the CBP office may not allow him/sher to enter US.

Two choices:

1. Apply for the SB-1 visa in any oneof the US Consulates in China using the reason of illness which prevented him/her from returning to US on time (need to provide the the strong evidence to support this reason).

2. If he/she cn not get the SB-1 visa, he/she may give up the green card and then, apply for the B2 visa to come back.
