申请h1b1, 和签证官面谈后被要求补充材料

请问申请h1b1,使馆appointment时和签证官面谈后要求补充材料后才能研究是否批准,这个通常是什么意思? 另外一般补充材料递上去后大约需要多久签证才能批下来?谢谢
